VE Day 80 – 8 May 2025

March Town Council is delighted to be supporting a National Event to mark the 80th Anniversary of Victory in Europe Day (VE-Day) on 8 May 2025.

There will be six events:
1. VE-Day 80th Proclamation – 8am – March Town Hall & Market car park
2. Raising of the VE-Day 80 Flag & Act of Remembrance  – 9am – War Memorial
3. Ringing of the church bells – 6.30pm
4. VE-Day Event – West End Park – Opens at 7.30pm
5. Lighting of the March Town Beacon – 9.30pm – West End Park
6. Due to the fact that Fish and Chips – Britain’s favourite dish, was not rationed by Prime Minister Churchill during the whole of WWII, we also want to use this occasion to continue paying tribute to the brave fishermen who fished the seas and the farmers and land girls who toiled in the fields, by encouraging the eating of Fish and Chips throughout the day, as part of the 2025 VE Day 80 celebrations.

Details of the event can be found on Facebook (March Town VE Day 80th Events)
